Conceived as functional elements for water drainage, these figures combine practical utility with iconography, projecting outwards a universe of fantastic creatures, monsters, demons, real animals, and human figures. Found on cathedrals, churches, and also on civic buildings, they form part of the artistic and historical heritage of many different places.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3051\" data-end=\"3347\">This section brings together a photographic archive devoted to the study and documentation of gargoyles. Visitors can browse galleries organised by Spanish provinces, explore international groups arranged by countries and cities, or access a general collection of more than two thousand images.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3354\" data-end=\"3691\">Each photograph has been documented in situ and is accompanied by a caption indicating its location.
