The church is listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest and was built between the 13th and 16th centuries, dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption and Saint Sebastian.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Its gargoyles are on the magnificent brick-built tower. There are just eight of them. However, it\u2019s possible to see some of the details and characteristics that allow you to make out the images of a <a href=\"https:\/\/doloresherrero.com\/en\/the-lion-and-its-portrayal-in-gargoyles\/\">lion<\/a>, an <a href=\"https:\/\/doloresherrero.com\/en\/videos-the-gargoyle-and-its-iconography\/video-typologies-in-gargoyles-anthropomorphic-figures\/\">anthropomorphic <\/a>figure, a <a href=\"https:\/\/doloresherrero.com\/en\/dogs-and-their-portrayal-in-gargoyles\/\">dog <\/a>holding a bone, another dog with a collar, two <a href=\"https:\/\/doloresherrero.com\/en\/videos-the-gargoyle-and-its-iconography\/video-typologies-in-gargoyles-the-eagle\/\">eagles<\/a> (one with its head to one side), an animal head with a collar and a quadruped or anthropomorph.<\/p>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h2>A Call to Preserve and Appreciate These 16th-Century Gargoyles<\/h2>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sadly, erosion in the gargoyles on the church at Mart\u00edn Mu\u00f1oz de las Posadas prevents you from fully appreciating the sculptural and iconographic beauty of these eight figures. But even so, you can fortunately still see them in their complete form.
