After admiring the gargoyles<\/a> of the \u201cCatedral Nueva\u201d in Vitoria<\/a> in previous entries, we now continue our journey through the Basque Country<\/a> to explore other examples of this singular sculptural element.<\/p>\n

Today we turn to the city of Ir\u00fan, where we have found some of the most peculiar and distinctive gargoyles in our survey.<\/p>\n

These are the gargoyles of the Parish Church of Nuestra Se\u00f1ora del Juncal in Ir\u00fan (Guip\u00fazcoa), a magnificent building constructed between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, whose architecture combines Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements.<\/p>\n

This church was declared a National Historical-Artistic Monument in June 1973.<\/p>\n
